# Toyota Launches New Land Cruiser 'FJ' Series in Japan
Toyota City, Japan, May 14, 2026 โ Toyota Motor Corporation officially launched the FJ series as a new variant in the legendary Land Cruiser lineup, with sales beginning on May 14, 2026. The FJ series joins the existing 300, 70, and 250 series, and was developed with the aim of allowing more customers to easily enjoy the Land Cruiser experience.
Concept 'Freedom & Joy'
Based on the concept of 'Freedom & Joy' (Freedom and Joy), the FJ is designed to allow customers from various lifestyles to enjoy the freedom to go anywhere and enrich their lives with exciting experiences. To achieve this, the FJ series is produced with an easy-to-handle size while maintaining the core features of the Land Cruiser โ reliability, durability, and off-road performance โ which have supported human life for years.
Off-Road Performance and Mobility
As an off-road vehicle that allows confident and free driving across any terrain, the FJ series is equipped with a highly durable and reliable ladder frame. It offers excellent off-road performance through superior wheel articulation (maintaining tire contact with the ground) and achieves exceptional mobility through a shortened wheelbase. In addition, a 2.7-liter petrol engine is paired with a 6-speed Super ECT transmission to deliver smooth driving performance and high reliability, ensuring convenience in daily situations such as highway driving while maintaining off-road performance.
Design and Practicality
The FJ design maintains the traditional rectangular cabin of the Land Cruiser, emphasizing comfort and cargo capacity, while incorporating fun elements such as the iconic dice pattern. It features a compact size with a length of 4,575 mm (350 mm shorter than the 250 series) and a width of 1,855 mm (125 mm narrower), making it easy to feel the dimensions of the vehicle and providing excellent mobility and maneuverability. A two-row seating arrangement with five seats and 795 liters (VDA) of cargo space even when the second row is used makes it practical for various activities.
Land Hopper: Electric Personal Mobility Vehicle
Toyota also plans to launch the Land Hopper, an electric personal mobility vehicle, starting in spring 2027. The Land Hopper allows users to enjoy the fun of riding on off-road trails that cannot be reached by the Land Cruiser, expanding the joy of mobility from daily use to travel to destinations. It can be folded compactly and stored in the vehicle's trunk.

The Land Cruiser FJ series is sold at a retail price starting from ยฅ4,500,100 (including tax) for the VX model with part-time four-wheel drive. The base sales volume for Japan is 1,300 units per month. The vehicle is also available through the KINTO car subscription service with monthly payments starting from ยฅ38,390 (including tax).
Accessory Options
Customers can customize the vehicle with various accessories installed at dealerships, including exterior parts from ARB, a leading manufacturer of high-performance off-road parts. A toy set that includes body decal and MOLLE panel is also offered to add a personal touch.
