White Dwarf: A Dense and Amazing Star in the Universe
A white dwarf, or white dwarf star, is a very dense star β with a mass equivalent to the Sun but as small as Earth. Stars like the Sun, which are not heavy enough to collapse into neutron stars or black holes, will become white dwarfs at the end of their lives. Sirius B, the smaller component of the Sirius binary star system located 8.6 light-years away, is the nearest known white dwarf.
