Planet Nine: A Giant Shadow Directing the Icy Dance at the Edge of the Solar System
Planet Nine is a hypothetical super-Earth-sized object suspected to orbit the Sun at hundreds of astronomical units beyond Neptune. Its existence was proposed in 2016 based on the unusual orbital patterns of a group of extreme trans-Neptunian objects (ETNO), not from direct discovery. If confirmed, it would be the first planet in the solar system found through indirect gravitational effects โ a unique achievement in modern astronomy. Its existence also raises fundamental questions about the origin and evolution of our solar system.
