Amira Grasps the Envelope, Heart Pounding
Bandar Seri Begawan โ Her hands trembled slightly as she took the white envelope. Amira Sariyati, 43, was still in shock after her name was announced as the grand prize winner of the Toyota Brunei Meriah Ria Grand Draw. โI didnโt expect it at all. My heart kept pounding, it felt like a dream,โ she said with an excited voice when met by reporters after the ceremony. She won a brand new Toyota Rush worth over B$20,000 โ the result of purchasing a Toyota vehicle a month ago.
The ceremony took place in a hotel ballroom in the city, attended by Toyota Brunei management and all 11 finalists. Family and friends were also present, adding to the warm atmosphere. This draw marked the official closing of the Meriah Ria campaign, which began in January.
From Vios to Rush: Three Months, Three Grand Prizes
The Meriah Ria campaign was no ordinary lucky draw. Every purchase of a new Toyota vehicle from January to March automatically registered customers into weekly prize draws โ shopping vouchers up to B$1,000. At the end of each month, a grand draw was held: a Toyota Vios in January, a Raize in February, and a Rush in March.
More than 500 customers participated in this campaign, according to a Toyota Brunei official. โWe want to appreciate customer loyalty. Amidst economic challenges, we hope this initiative brings joy,โ said a company representative. Early year sales โ usually slow โ also saw a significant increase during the campaign.
โUnexpected Fortuneโ
Amira, a primary school teacher from Kampung Rimba, admitted this win was incredibly meaningful. โMy old car was worn out. This is unexpected fortune,โ she said. She plans to use her new Toyota Rush for her daily commute to school and for family trips to the beach.
The second prize winner received a B$3,000 voucher. Third to fifth place winners each received B$1,500. Five other finalists took home B$500 vouchers โ all usable at selected department stores in Brunei.
An Increasingly Dynamic Automotive Market
Campaigns like this don't just touch individuals; they also stimulate the local automotive sector. Brunei, with a population of around 450,000, has a competitive vehicle market. Toyota remains a top choice brand due to its durability and high resale value. However, pressure from Nissan, Honda, and other brands makes promotions like Meriah Ria important for maintaining its position.
โBruneian customers love offers and prizes. When there's a draw, they are more interested in buying,โ said a local analyst. This strategy also encourages other dealerships to introduce similar promotions โ expanding consumer choices.
A New Chapter Begins
Toyota Brunei has not yet announced its next campaign after Meriah Ria concludes. But this success has set a high standard โ both in terms of customer participation and market impact. For Amira, the drive home in her new Toyota Rush is more than just a win. It's the beginning of a new chapter.
